- Introductions – so we all get to know each other
- We are having a Desi bathhouse night coming up, and in this meeting
we will have an informative workshop/presentation on Bathhouses and have a discussion after. The discussion could be about what types of things you would like to see in the bathhouse night or any questions or concerns you have about bathhouses in general.
- Mix and mingle and refreshments
- Remember: *This is a DISCREET AND SAFE space for men only who
identify as Gay/Bi/Confused and Desi.

3) INCREASE OF SYPHILIS CASES!
There is an increase in syphilis cases in Toronto in the
MSM (Men who have Sex with men) population:
 
How do I know if I have it?
You may notice a painless sore on your penis or near your anus (bum). The sore will go away by itself. Many people do not notice the sore because it is painless. You probably wouldn’t notice one in your throat, but you could get it there, too, from unprotected oral sex.

This first sign of syphilis will show up about three weeks after you have sex with someone who has it. Four to 10 weeks later, you may notice a rash on your body, palms and soles of your feet. The rash will also go away on its own.

The late stage of syphilis usually happens 10 to 20 years later. It can occur much earlier if you also have HIV. Late stage syphilis can cause serious heart, brain and bone disease.
Can you cure it?
Yes. Syphilis can be easily treated and cured with antibiotics.
How can I get tested?
Your doctor can order a blood test for syphilis; or you can go to a sexual health clinic such as the Hassle Free clinic.
How can I protect myself?
As usual, the best protection for you and your partner(s) is using a latex condom every time you have oral, anal or vaginal sex. Consider getting tested for syphilis if you think you may be at risk.

If someone you had sex with within the last three months tells you they have syphilis, get tested. Even if the test is negative, you should be treated with antibiotics. The test results will help the doctor make any other decisions about your treatment.

So the planning for DESI PRIDE 2010 has already begun, and we'd like YOU to pick this year's theme.

SHAADI (wedding): It’s the biggest shaadi of the year, and you’re invited. Let this year’s float be your big, bollywood same-sex wedding, complete with guests, relatives, dancers and a message that screams “It’s Possible” … to be who you are, and have a happily ever after.

KOTHA/VIBACHARI VIDUTHI: The glamour and grandeur of the classic, courtesans and celluloid brothels is re-evoked with a queer twist. Recreate the magic of classics such as Devdas, Umrao Jaan, Manichitrathazhu, and Mughal-e-Aazam in this fun, pan-sexual float. Whether you choose to be Chandramukhi, Nagavalli, Anarkali or Umrao Jaan, Pride 2010 will be your chance to grab some ghungroos and work it.

I.T. BAZAAR: The past meets the future in this creative, avant garde, I.T. Bazaar. The float would be redesigned to resemble a traditional, desi, street market, with vendors selling what we’re best known for producing – technology.

FASHION: Showcasing that desis can be sexy, naughty and fun too, Fashion takes the concept of famous runways such as the Victoria’s Secret fashion show and turn it on its head. All genders, types, and sizes from the Desi GLBT community can be a show stopper and strut their stuff in their sexiest, naughtiest best.
